United for sustainable development

The Centre for Innovation in Polymer Engineering (PIEP) is a private association, with a technological and scientific matrix and a business management model.

Founded on December 13, 2000, by the initiative of the industry and in collaboration with the Department of Polymer Engineering of the University of Minho (DEP-UM) and the Support Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation (IAPMEI), PIEP intends to provide a prompt response in the delivery of products and services, oriented to the R&D+i needs of companies in the plastics and related sectors, through innovation activities, technology transfer, technical-scientific consultancy, and services provision.

In general, PIEP acts in terms of the provision of testing services and failure analysis, the development of new materials and products, processing technologies, and productive tools, based on the promotion of the principles of sustainable development (Circular Economy and Environment).

PIEP also contributes to training, supporting the development of human resources with capacity and experience in industrial innovation in the field of polymer engineering.

The Galician Forestry Industry Agency (XERA) is an autonomous public agency, integrated into the department responsible for economic and industrial matters, but with its own legal personality, distinct from the General Administration of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, with its own assets and treasury and management autonomy as defined by law.

The Galician Forestry Industry Agency’s purpose is to act as an efficient management tool in performing functions related to boosting economic activity associated with the forestry industry, improving the competitiveness and innovation of companies in the sector, and coordinating research and technology centers linked to the forestry industry.

In particular, the Galician Forestry Industry Agency (XERA) will pursue, among others, the following objectives: Improve the competitiveness and innovation of companies in the forestry sector from the first phase of resource transformation, with a special focus on the second and subsequent phases; Encourage the design of products derived from the forestry sector in the search for green structural solutions that contribute to the environment; Promote the creation of quality jobs in rural areas; Encourage improvements in the training and qualifications of personnel employed in the forestry sector.

The General Directorate of Energy Planning and Mining (DXPEM) is a department under the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Regional Government of Galicia. It is responsible for the management, coordination, planning, execution, monitoring, and control of the Ministry’s responsibilities and functions in the areas of energy, mineral resources, and mineral and thermal waters.

It is structured into two sub-directorate departments: The General Sub-Directorate of Energy and Resource Planning focuses on the planning, organization, and promotion of infrastructure, energy efficiency, and renewable energy, including the processing of permits and coordination with the Galician Energy Institute (INEGA); and the General Sub-Directorate of Mineral Resources, which is responsible for the organization, promotion, and control of Galician mining, mining safety, and the management of resources such as deposits and thermal waters, aiming at the sustainable development of the sector.

CTAG (Automotive Technology Center of Galicia) is a private, independent technology center dedicated to scientific and technical excellence, with over 20 years of experience offering advanced technological solutions for the automotive, transportation, and mobility sectors.

CTAG participates in the development and design stages of innovative products and processes, as well as their production and subsequent industrial launch. Its strategic areas of activity include autonomous and connected vehicles, smart and clean mobility, innovative materials, and the industry of the future.
